BMW Maintenance: 7 Factors to Keep in Mind

7/22/2022

BMW maintenance is an important part of keeping your car performing like it's fresh off the lot. But if you don't know what you're doing, you could actually just be making things worse.

Don't slow down because of foolish mistakes. Know what to do when keeping your car revving and ready to go and you can stay on the road for years to come.

Here are seven things you need to keep in mind when maintaining and repairing your BMW.

1. The Free Maintenance Program

BMW offers a short-term free maintenance program for the first few years of your car's life.
The BMW maintenance program offers free maintenance for any BMW for the first three years or 36,000 miles of its life, whichever comes first. After three years or 36,000 miles, the program ends and you need to look for maintenance from an independent or local service provider. We have some very specific thoughts about "free maintenance" that you can read here.

Relying on generalized mechanics might not be the best idea for this endeavor, considering the complexities of any luxury car. Depending on your style of driving and driving conditions, the dealership's "free" maintenance may actually be a bad choice. Instead, you should look for a local service provider with expertise in BMW maintenance.

2. The Cost of BMW Maintenance

For decades, the name "BMW' has been synonymous with the idea of a luxury car. So it shouldn't be surprising that they're pricey to maintain. Bluebook has named BMWs the most expensive car to buy and maintain in the pre-owned market.

If you own a BMW, chances are you're OK with paying a bit extra for a quality drive. But because these services are already so expensive, you need to carefully choose a local shop that has expertise in BMW maintenance and repair. Find a well-reviewed service provider to make sure you're getting a well-done, legitimate service that's being performed by ASE certified BMW technicians.

Often times you will find that adding the time costs and travel costs of going to the dealership in Montgomery, Columbus or Atlanta will make maintenance and repairs of your BMW much more than it should be when you could choose a local shop.
Picture

3. How Often to Go For Maintenance

The easiest way to end up paying way too much for maintenance is by running to the dealership way too much. We all know the saying: better safe than sorry. But there are areas in which playing it too safe could cost you more than just a few bucks.

Different types of maintenance require different time intervals. Time magazine wrote a helpful guide on when to take different parts of your car for maintenance. They suggest checking tire inflation and windshield wiper fluid once per month. But other services are often less common. Again, this depends upon a lot of factors including style of driving, age of your vehicle and normal driving conditions in your area. If you have had performance engineering parts added to your BMW you may need to come in more frequently to make sure you are getting the proper performance from your car and to have aftermarket parts tuned and adjusted.

Make sure you're not performing different aspects of your scheduled BMW maintenance too frequently or infrequently. And if you need help figuring out what maintenance schedule is appropriate for your BMW, check the service and warranty book for your model. Or, simply bring your vehicle by Performance Services and introduce yourself.

4. Getting an Oil Change

Getting an oil change should be the most self-explanatory part of caring for your car, but it's a bit more complicated than people realize. There's a myth about BMW that recommends only giving a BMW an oil change every 15,000 miles. This myth is false.
It may work in the short-term, but giving such infrequent oil changes as a long-term strategy for BMW maintenance could result in significant damage over time.

Regularly change your car's oil to avoid having an unfortunate incident that destroys the lifespan of your vehicle. Our certified technicians can provide more information and guidance. Just give us a call at (334) 749-1588.

5. Brake Fluid

BMW brake fluid should be changed about once every two years. If you don't change your brake fluid regularly, it will get less effective and lead to significant delays in brake performance. This isn't just bad for your car, it puts you, your family, and other drivers on the road in severe danger.

Being cavalier about taking care of your brakes is a bad idea, is what we're trying to say.
But it's not just about changing your brake fluid or pads frequently: it's about changing them properly.

There are guides available to change your brake fluid online, but they all tell you that the most important thing is doing it right. If you do it wrong, you might as well just take the breaks out of your car to save time.

BMW maintenance needs to be done properly, which means instead of trying to change the brakes yourself, you should get in touch with people who know what they're doing. Seriously. Trust us on this one.

6. Tire and Wheel Protection

You can get tire and wheel protection for your BMW as part of your BMW maintenance package. Again, this may not be enough to maintain a long life for your German import. Tire and wheel protection is separate from the ensured maintenance with a different warranty.

Protection programs last up to five years and provide protection from debris on the road such as broken glass, metal, and poorly kept roads which, let's face it, are a constant hazard for any auto enthusiast.

Checking out a complete tire and wheel maintenance program from Performance Services is a good way to ensure long lasting performance, along with something that easily pays for itself if you like to have a "well loved" vehicle.

7. Getting The Best BMW Service

With the economy booming and so many Americans choosing to purchase new cars there's a lot to consider when it comes to BMW maintenance. So after you own your car for 3 years or work your way up to the dreaded 36,000-mile mark, it's easy to feel lost.

That's why you need to rely on seasoned professionals with a passion for auto care. We can help. We've been in business in the Auburn-Opelika area for over 20 years, and have a specialty in providing high-quality care not just to BMWs, but to other German models as well.

So whether it's a BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, or Mercedes Benz, you can trust Performance Services because we're specialized professionals who know what we're doing.

On top of that, we also do what we do for the right reasons. The reason is: we love cars. We drive and enjoy our OWN German sports cars. We find it incredibly sad when people get rid of a car after only a few years, especially when that car could have easily been saved by more careful maintenance and regular care.

How to Find the Best Local Shop for Installation and Maintenance of Performance Engineered Parts for Audi, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagens

Since you found us, chances are you know how important it is to have a quality vehicle. If you prefer high-quality German vehicles over the standard fare cars or trucks, you're in the right place!

While we believe that these luxury vehicles are preferable to the other options out there, they don't all leave the lot with every feature you might want. Maybe you wish you could go a little faster (or a LOT faster), have a smoother ride, or maybe you even want to race your car.

Did you know you can further improve your vehicle by using aftermarket performance car parts? If you already knew that, we can help you find the perfect fit for your needs. If that's new information, let us show you how these simple additions can add value to your car and make it more fun to drive!
Picture

Why Aftermarket Parts?

Fine German vehicles are known for their superior function, reliability, and longevity. However, there is always room for improvement. If you feel like your car could use a boost, consider installing performance cars parts.

Using the right aftermarket parts can transition your drives from good to excellent. Performance car parts can:
  • boost speed
  • enhance acceleration
  • improve sharp turns
  • help you brake quickly
  • and much more!
Not only will your driving experience improve, you'll also look and feel awesome! These parts can make all the difference, whether your vehicle is brand new or your old, faithful companion.

Which Performance Car Parts Do I Need?

The specific performance car parts you need will vary depending on the aspects you would like to improve. So the first thing to consider is how you would like your car to run. If you want your car to go faster, you'll need different products than you would if you were trying to improve handling. We install and maintain products from APR Motorsport, Fabspeed, Shark Werks, and Bimmer Tech. No matter what your needs are, we can help you find the best fit for your car and your life.

In addition, the products you should consider will vary greatly with different makes, models, and years. To ensure you have the correct quality parts to meet your needs, you need to speak directly with an informed professional.

What Do I Need to Know About Installation?

After you research and figure out which performance car parts you would like to add to your vehicle, you're ready to start!

It's important that only the highest-quality parts are expertly installed in your car. So while you need to be certain that the parts are correct for your ride, you need to carefully decide who you will trust to do the installation.

It's important the the shop you choose installs only reputable parts. The technicians should be experts about products. So talk to them and ask questions about the parts you're looking for.

You need to make sure to select a shop that specializes in your vehicle. After all, you cannot take your foreign car to a small shop that works primarily with standard American cars and expect good results. Performance engineered parts installation is a highly specialized and technical skill and the techs at Performance Services are certified by the German brands you love to drive.

Call the shop and ask them questions about their products and the process of installation. Make sure they have all the correct knowledge and tools. This is also the time when you will want to think about the warranties they offer.

What Do I Need to Know About Maintenance?

Just like installation, you'll want to make sure that the shop you choose is specialized to your car. In addition to having the right tools to fix anything that may be going wrong with your performance car parts, they need to have the right diagnostic tools to know what's causing the problem. If they don't, they might miss a potential issue that could cost a lot in the long run.

Again, it's important to ask questions. You can also read reviews so you know what other people are saying about the quality of an individual shop.

Finally, you'll want to talk to technicians about the best maintenance schedule to catch potential problems before they interfere with your life. Make sure someone looks at your car often enough for everything to run smoothly.

While it can be tempting to put off maintenance until something starts to go wrong, regular, preventative maintenance can save you both time and money. So be sure that the shop you choose will stick with a maintenance schedule that will keep your vehicle in peak condition.

What Else Do I Need to Know?

As we mentioned earlier, your needs and concerns will vary based on the type of car you have. This will affect both the installation of aftermarket parts and your regular maintenance.

At Performance Services, our technicians are experts in German cars and the performance car parts that work best for these vehicles. Here are a few things to keep in mind about your brand:
  • You should only take your vehicle to shops with the correct tools and skills to install performance car parts suitable for your make and model. If someone tries to work on your car without specialized knowledge of the brand, it could damage your vehicle and make it unsafe to operate.
  • Always check the suggested maintenance schedule for your vehicle to make sure you have it serviced often enough (if you are curious about scheduled maintenance for your performance vehicle read this article).
  • If you lost track of your owners manual, you can find electronic copies online:
    • Audi
    • BMW
    • Mercedes-Benz
    • Porsche
    • Volkswagen
  • To keep your vehicle running smoothly for years and even decades to come, make sure you only trust the best technicians who are experts in maintaining your car.
Of course, if you have any concerns about your vehicle, you should speak with a qualified professional. If you think there is something wrong with your car, it's important to have someone look at it as soon as possible. This can save a lot of headaches!

Fortunately, we are equipped to handle these cars without necessitating a long, out-of-town trip to the dealership.

I'm Ready! How Can You Help Me?

Performance Services has been serving the Opelika, Auburn, Lake Martin and surrounding areas for over 20 years and is well-respected in the community. Our technicians are ASE certified and fully equipped to help you make your German vehicle the best around.
Let us know how we can help you truly love your fine foreign vehicle.

We're happy to discuss your plans and make proper recommendations that will have you enjoying your fine German vehicle for years and years to come.

Why Take Your Car to a Local Mechanic Instead of a Dealership?

11/11/2019

Uh-oh, the check engine light came on.

It's looking like you've got two options:
  • Ride it out
  • Fix it
You sit in traffic hoping it's nothing serious until you hear the engine start waning. Crud, this will be a big problem. Not really, especially if you bring it to a local mechanic.

When Brand Loyalty Has You in a Vice

It's an easy decision to take the vehicle to a dealership due to brand loyalty.

Many cite the use of OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts instead of aftermarket parts suggested by local mechanics. One may desire OEM parts to maximize the longevity of their vehicle due to their extensive testing and quality.

There is a false pretense that using a local mechanic would void their warranty.

This isn't true.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act ruled in favor of consumers. A customer's decision to use aftermarket parts which prevents brands from voiding warranties when they're used.
Dealership services come at a high cost. The costs are hard to justify brand loyalty and creates an ideal scenario to work with local, fair-priced mechanics.

The Benefits of a Local German Auto Mechanic

Import cars are well-known to cause disruptions with getting back on the road due to their unique parts and availability. Many import car owners may wait weeks before an essential part makes it to the dealership.

Looks like it's time to visit the Performance Services!

Here's what you gain from doing so:

Convenience

The closest German import vehicle dealerships providing repair services are quite a distance when living on the outskirts of a major city. A major repair of the vehicle may require towing which increases the expenses.

Performance Services is conveniently located in your proximity. This allows you to roll into the shop for basic work or keep the towing costs to a minimum if you're expecting major work.

Local shops typically carry the unique parts, too, because it's their specialty. It adds to the convenience and solving the urgency when getting repairs.

BYOP

You'll find many shops open to the practice of "bring your own parts" for performance enhancement. This allows you to order aftermarket parts to improve performance while the mechanic is busy working. Versus using the limited selection that's available through the dealership.

Online ordering is fruitful in finding unique parts with foreign brands like BMW. Plus, it presents an opening to talk cars with your mechanic and develop a better, professional relationship.

Deep Knowledge

Some shop mechanics have been working in the industry for decades. These individuals provide a wealth of information and knowledge. Their knowledge will cut down repair time since they know the tricks to troublesome repairs. They also provide solid recommendations for performance improvements based on the constant tinkering done throughout the years.

Accountability

You talk face-to-face with your mechanic which builds a relationship. These shops rely on reputation (not big marketing budgets) so you're less likely to deal with a local mechanic trying to swindle for quick gains.

A branding of being a "shady character" will quickly destroy their reputation. Meaning, they'll remain honest about the required work and costs.

Handling Insurance

Auto repair shops and insurance adjusters regularly work with one another to find a middle-ground. This would include an agreement about parts covered by insurance and the shop.

The agreement ensures the best options since both parties are accountable for their services. Plus, most third-party warranties are honored!

You will need to negotiate with adjusters to settle on the best prices. But, a good relationship with your local mechanic could provide great guidance since they've likely helped others like you many times before.

Upgrades

The independent shops are excited when customers want to mod their vehicles.
The right shop will offer performance parts to:
  • Boost speed
  • Acceleration
  • Handling
...and more.

It turns the shops into a place to talk and experiment with vehicles.

Performance (with a Personal Touch)

Performance Services has been serving the community from Columbus to Atlanta for over 20 years.

We wouldn't be around if we weren't doing something right!

Our A.S.E. certified techs know their way around imports and we've got the busted knuckles to prove it.

Roll into our shop with your BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Audi, or Porsche and see the difference versus the dealerships.

Why Students Need a Local Auto Shop for Their Fine German Autos

8/19/2019

When you're a student, looking for a reliable auto shop is no easy task, and finding a shop able to provide excellent service for high-quality German autos might be even harder. You need to know that the shop is trustworthy, experienced with German cars, and won't take advantage of you as a student. Parents need to understand these things too.

So why should go to a local auto shop for your repair and maintenance needs? Keep reading to find out.
Picture

You'll Be Spending Your Money Intelligently

German luxury vehicles are just that: A luxury. Prices on repairs, maintenance, parts, and labor can be extremely expensive. As a student who is already paying a substantial amount on school and living expenses, you need to make sure that you're spending your money at the right places.

Local shops are able to provide excellent service for the money you'll be spending. They'll be able to dedicate an ample amount of time to your German auto and give you great service. Local shops will also be able to provide highly skilled mechanics and will often have experience with your specific car.

Local shops are cost-efficient and will ultimately make the money you spend on your vehicle entirely worth it - especially by saving you the time and hassle of travelling home or two to four hours away to a dealership.

Support Local Business

Besides the many benefits for you, going to a local shop will support your local community. This will continue to support the local shop, which will help it continuously be able to serve you and your German auto needs during your time in school.

This will continue to support the local shop, which will help it continuously be able to serve you and your German auto needs.

Convenience

You could find the absolute best shop in the universe, but it won't mean anything if it is a four hour drive away. As a student, you definitely have a busy schedule with classes, work, and fun, so if something comes up or you need maintenance right away, a shop that is far away in Columbus, Montgomery or Atlanta will be a huge inconvenience.

If there is something wrong with your car or it needs scheduled maintenance, you definitely want to get it fixed as soon as possible. In fact, waiting to fix something can end up causing more damage, which is why getting your car to a shop quickly and easily is important for your car's maintenance.

Going to a local shop is not only the best option for you and your busy life, but it could also save your car from further damage that would happen if you waited to take it back home.
And who wants to wind up on the side of the road trying to get home for a repair that could have been managed locally?

Safety

Besides the desire to keep your car from damage, going to a local shop is important for your own safety. Driving a broken or damaged car to an auto shop that is far away can be extremely dangerous, especially if you don't know what is going on with the vehicle.

Staying local will mean minimal driving in a damaged car, which is crucial for the safety of yourself and other drivers.

German Auto Maintenance and Repair: The Bottom Line

Going to a local shop for your German auto needs has many benefits:
  • Intelligent spending

3 Summer Care Tips for Classic German Cars

6/28/2018

The weather is warmer and it is time to do some serious maintenance on your classic German car. Whether you have a Mercedes, BMW or Porsche, your classic car needs love all year round, but summer is the best time to give your pride and joy some more love. Extra TLC is especially important with the amount of rain we've had recently and frequent wet driving conditions in Auburn, Opelika, Lake Martin and all points in between.

If you want to keep your car in mint condition this summer you should definitely consider the following three care tips for your classic German cars.

Wax Is Key

Waxing your classic German car can be a bit of a time-consuming task but you will reap the benefits. If you want to keep the paint looking its best, waxing is nonnegotiable.

If you properly apply the wax, using the "wax on, wax off" method, you will be able to keep your car looking beautiful for years. You should take the time to give your car a thorough wax job once every six months.

The barrier that the wax creates will protect your car from the summer weather and even things like tree sap, pollen, and bird droppings.

To preserve your wax job, always keep your classic German car covered if you are storing it outside.
Picture

Keep up with scheduled maintenance

Keeping up with scheduled maintenance is very important when you own any car, but especially important with classic German cars.

If you are driving a vehicle that has high mileage, which is likely with a classic car, you will probably want to do maintenance even more often than the manufacturer suggests.
Changing your oil can make or break your vehicle. In the summer, oil keeps high friction components cooler by lubricating them. Old or low oil levels can ruin the motor extremely quickly.

You should also keep tabs on your transmission fluid and differential oils. While these do not need to be changed as frequently, they may need to be done more so in your classic than in modern cars.

Finally, your coolant should be flushed and replaced at least once each year.

Wash your car regularly

Another way to keep your classic German car in tip top shape is to be sure that it is thoroughly cleaned, inside and out, often.

Summertime often means more rain but a rainstorm is not enough to really wash your car. Rain can contain minimal amounts of acid that are not good for your car's paint. Washing your car will make sure that no harsh chemicals are eating away at your car's paint job.
Don't forget to wash the underside of your car as well as this area is prone to corrosion when not cleaned properly.

Keeping the interior of your car is important as well. For example, you should be sure to protect the leather seats with things like leather creams.

The Value of Knowing the German Import Mechanic Working on Your Vehicle

5/17/2018

Do you want to be sure that your vehicle is in the most trusted hands possible? Here's the value of knowing the import mechanic working on your vehicle.
Many people who want to buy or already drive an import vehicle know that the secret to good maintenance is a great mechanic. These car enthusiasts often make it a point to take their car to the same shop, no matter what it needs. They build a relationship with an import mechanic beyond a handshake and a financial transaction.

Some people don't see the value in getting to know their mechanic, though.

These drivers are missing out.

Here are four reasons you should establish a relationship with the person taking care of your import vehicle.

1. Peace of Mind

Unfortunately, not every mechanic offers respectable, professional services.

There are some who have no problem ripping you off or giving you a service that is not up to par. This is a worrisome realization for many drivers. But, the ones who have a relationship with their mechanic have nothing to be concerned about. When you establish a bond with the person working on your car, you can trust it's in good hands. Plus, you don't have to go through every detail whenever you drop your car off. Your mechanic will know what your vehicle needs based on the previous times you've come in. They'll get everything right and return your car just how you like it.

2. Fair Pricing

There's nothing like getting quality service for reasonable prices. Just because you drive an import vehicle doesn't mean you have to pay an arm and a leg for maintenance.
You can trust that your go-to import mechanic is giving you their quote for a reason. A lot of time this will depend on your German import being shop's mechanics and your history of service, maintenance and repair.
Picture

3. A Source for Parts

Having someone you can count on for fair pricing comes in handy when you need new parts. Import vehicles often have special things you need to order from the manufacturer or even overseas. These don't come cheap. But your mechanic can help you find the best place to buy from.

In many cases, Performance Services will have the parts you need in-house ready to go.
This kind of inventory is unbeatable. It gives you quick access to the right parts, getting you back on the road in no time.

4. Access to More Vehicle Knowledge

Sometimes, car repair is as simple as a question.

When you establish a relationship with your import mechanic, you can count on them to give you good advice for regular upkeep. This person has been under the hood of many vehicles over the years. They know a thing or two about what makes a car last and will share their tricks with you once you get to know each other. Such knowledge has no price tag. It gives you the power to take the best possible care of your car.

Then, when it really needs a mechanic, you'll know exactly who to call.

Find Your Import Mechanic

Stop taking your import vehicle to just anyone.

It's time to get to know your mechanic and see the benefits of such a relationship for yourself. Frank Jackson and his team are ready to provide the professional services and trustworthy connection you've been looking for.

5 Vintage German Auto Maintenance and Repair Tips

7/28/2017

Germany is known for its long history of manufacturing cars built for performance.

This means that often, these cars need a little more maintenance than most. With some dedication and the right care, your German auto can have a long and full life.

Here's what you need to know when caring for your vintage dream car.

1. Have a Healthy Savings Account

No joke. The dedication needed to care for German performance cars often stems from the wallet, too.

Parts and care will cost German auto owners more than average, with Mercedes and Audi being the amongst the highest.

Today, vehicles from German manufacturers such as these can cost over $1500 a year (as shown in the same study referenced above.) With high mileage vehicles, this can increase even more.

In making your buying decision, it's important to keep in mind that there will be a high average cost of repairs.

2. Hit the Road, Jack

Avoid letting your vintage vehicles sit idle for too long. If a car sits without use for months, it can begin to deteriorate.

Starting a car after a long period without use can often cause many of its systems to fail or need maintenance quickly after you bring it to life again.

Make sure you're taking your ride for a spin every now-and-again. This is the most fun part about owning a vintage car, after all.
Picture

3. Provide Regular Maintenance

An oil change every 3000 miles may or may not be right for your vehicle, but it is a good rule of thumb. However, watch all of your vehicle fluids when driving a vintage car. Oil changes are something to always keep an eye on. Every 3,000-7,000 miles will do depending on your cars make, model age and driving conditions.

It is always a good idea to check the oil regularly.

The oil lube system should be a closed system. That means it shouldn't get used-up. If you see your oil level dropping, check for leaks. These can be especially common as the car gets older.

Also, get a coolant flush once a year. Finally, keep an eye on other fluids, such transmission leaks, once you reach 60,000 miles.

4. Take Care of Your Body

Keeping your car clean and cared for doesn't just make the experience driving better. It also adds years to the life of the vehicle.

Even rain can contribute to wear on the body. Washing regularly can help extend the life of your paint job.

Frequent waxing is important as well. Apply wax every 6 months for the protection your German car needs.

Treat your leather interiors with a cream. This will keep them in good condition, and save you from spending more on trying to salvage damaged leather.

5. Find a Professional German Auto Technician

Don't be afraid to ask for help.

Providing professional care for your German car is paramount. If your maintenance shop doesn't have the proper tools and expertise to properly work on the specialized German parts? Well, then they can very easily damage the vehicle.

This is why it's crucial to work with a professional who specializes in German cars.

The Truth About Scheduled Maintenance for Your German Import

2/23/2017

Proper maintenance on your fine German import can be a real guessing game in this day and age. With the advent of “free scheduled maintenance” by many manufacturers the water has become even muddier.  Should you follow the schedule in your owner’s manual? Should you bring your car in more frequently? At Performance Services, we’ve been around long enough to remember the good ol’ days when following the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule would be enough to ensure a long life for your vehicle – even being able to pass your automobile down to new drivers in your family – often times to multiple generations. Unfortunately, that’s not how things go currently.
Picture
Vehicle manufacturers and their dealers suggest tuning up your vehicle before 100,000 miles and that the modern age synthetic fluids (like oil, transmission and brake fluids) are “lifetime” rated – easily allowing you to go 15,000 miles between oil changes. But what does “lifetime” really mean? They’re not talking about YOUR lifetime or even the lifetime of your vehicle!

To be sure, these infrequent service schedules are a marketing strategy designed to sell cars, trucks and SUVs. They may be appealing if you lease your vehicle or only plan to keep it for a few years, but what if you plan on keeping your vehicle for a long time – even passing it down to a child or grandchildren? The truth is, if you maintain your vehicle according only to the manufacturer’s specifications, you should not expect your vehicle to last more than 70,000 miles without requiring major repairs. Most manufacturers consider a vehicle’s lifetime to be somewhere between eight and ten years or 100,000 miles, But if you are like all of us at Performance Services, you plan to keep your fine German auto well past this “lifetime” established by the manufacturer - especially since you bought the car you have because you LOVE to drive it.
Picture
Most all of our customers see the value of their import as much higher than the manufacturer’s service intervals imply. Just ask our customers who are driving vehicles with 150,000, 200,000 and even 300,000 miles on them how important real-life service intervals are for them to get this type of mileage – and enjoyment – out of their BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi or Volkswagen.  If your vehicle is an integral part of your life and your family get in touch with Performance Services. Our certified technicians can recommend a more stable routine maintenance schedule to help improve the longevity and enjoyment of your vehicle. We understand how your German vehicle operates and will help you pinpoint every special requirement to keep your ride smooth, dependable, safe and enjoyable.

Maintenance of vintage vehicles requires a vast knowledge of the intricacies of German auto engineering. Performance Services is the premiere shop for proper maintenance, repair and restoration of classic German cars. With many vintage models being valued at seven figures and more, expert repair and maintenance is as much of an investment as the vehicle itself.

BMW, VW, Audi Trusted Local Repair and Maintenance in Auburn, AL
To keep kids safe on the road to and from school, more and more parents are sending their kids to college with the enhanced safety and performance that only fine German engineering can provide. This means parents AND students need a LOCAL trusted service and maintenance provider with a higher level of understanding and experience that German makes like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche require. That's where Performance Services comes in.
Factory diagnostics available for BMW, Mercedes and Audi for AU Students in Auburn, AL
Frank Jackson at Performance Services offers complete factory diagnostics for all German makes and models. This means a "check engine light" can be diagnosed quickly without having to drive the vehicle one hour or more to get to a dealership (which could cause serious damage to a car that's trying to tell you something...). Additionally, German craftsmanship requires specialized training and experience to diagnose and fix a problem. The ASE Certified techs at Performance Services have almost 100 years of combined experience in maintaining and repairing German automobiles. Don't make the mistake of allowing a basic mechanic (or for goodness sake the quicky oil change shop) to attempt to diagnose, much less FIX, an intricate issue on your BMW, VW, Audi, Mercedes or Porsche.
